So many people ask me, having been there since the early stages of the game, do I like the direction that hip hop has taken. Man, I mean, to answer that question with sincerity, I kinda have to look at it from the outside in, rather than from the inside out. That being said, I love where hip hop has been, where’s it’s going, and where it’s at right now. It all boils down to supply and demand. That’s what makes the world go around. When there were only a handful of artists, the supply was limited and the demand was huge. Now, with the digital revolution, the supply is abundant and in turn, the demand has diminished. But, when I see artists like Jay-Z reaching such a high plateau and still having that will to fight to stay on top, I love it, it makes me happy and it makes me proud to be a part of hip-hop.
Hip hop is a culture, but above and beyond all that, and despite how people may or may not be willing to admit it, hip hop is a business. The successful rapper is either supported by a shrewd business person or is a shrewd business person themselves.
Yeah, you gotta have a certain skill set to make it, but what you really need is a budget, a marketing/promotional strategy and more likely than not, a gimmick. However, even with all of those things, if you don’t have experience in the game, business savvy, and the right connects and people behind you, the odds are against your being successful. Think of it like this: if you had an idea for a product or an idea for the next big thing; perhaps a business or a restaurant, but you had no money to finance it, no means to fabricate the product, no investors to back your restaurant, where would you be? You’d be struck at the drawing board. Read the rest of this entry »
Urban website owner, Lee Q O’Denat is a SNITCH! Don’t believe me? Just ask Fifty! Fifty previously pointing to O’Denat as potentially providing inside information to detectives about ongoing criminal cases, being investigated by the federal government.
Now, not only does O’Denat seem to sing like a bird, but he also may secretly be playing for both teams — That’s Team Girl and Team Guy.
Here’s why: It’s no secret that O’Denat’s girlfriend is amateur porn whore and delinquent mom, Cubana Lust. The mother of two is much more than a booty shaker, she’s also a bi-sexual. Her girlfriend/lover, Maliah (who she met while the two modeled for summerbunnies.com – an agency owned by recently outed gay Houston resident, Dwayne Darden. Read the rest of this entry »
HSK has exclusively learned that EMI Music may be looking at a grim future. That’s because my EMI source tells me if the new Gorillaz “Plastic Beach” album isn’t a mega hit, EMI Music will face some serious financial difficulties.
The album hoped by many to save EMI Music from dying, “Plastic Beach” was largely produced by former Blur frontman Damon Albarn, and features a list of popular artists in the rap game including SSnoop Dogg, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Kano, Bashy, Bobby Womack, Mos Def, Gruff Rhys, De La Soul, Little Dragon, Mark E. Smith, Lou Reed, Mick Jones, Paul Simonon, sinfonia ViVA and The Lebanese National Orchestra for Oriental Arabic Music. Read the rest of this entry »
HSK has always been in MJ’s corner. I remember you had a donation appeal on the site, when MJ’s finances looked precarious. That was before he died, and wasn’t too popular with people who just love to believe scandal and forget what a contribution he made to the world of music and entertainment (and also his efforts for humanity).
Those sheep/people love him now, of course, and say things like: ‘he was a great musician, but a bit of a wierdo’. But guess what: those people’s opinions don’t matter a shit. Only history matters. Michael laid down some of the toughest grooves this world has ever heard. He came up hard from the industrial town of Gary, Indiana, and in a hard era. He was an expert dancer, so naturally his music was at a really high standard in order to get him dancing. This is in stark contrast to the vast majority of music you hear these days.
He was so talented and creative, that he was probably a slave to his talent, and like a lot of geniuses might have come across as eccentric. However, he always tried to hold himself to high standards of behavior, and keep his private life out of the spotlight. When you add everything up it shouldn’t surprise anyone that he was a man’s man. He deserves to be recognized as a modern great, and I’m glad that HSK is a voice of reason among all the dissenters.
HSK has exclusively learned Benicio Del Toro has been courting one Los Angeles stripper, in recent weeks.
Sources say the Puerto Rican born actor has been forking out cash while he wines and dines a woman professional stripper
During a November outing to the Hollywood Palladium for a Pixies show, the stripper is said to have fallen witness to Benicio’s public display of inebriation. This after the actor got so drunk that he reportedly pulled out his dick and pissed in his cup!
That may be when the stripper learned that Benicio (a man who also introduced the stripper to his dad) has herpes!!! WTF!?! Read the rest of this entry »
